I had an opportunity to take my daughter Katie on a cruise in the 1956 Plymouth, and we had a good time. She really enjoyed cruising in the car, and was surprised at how nicely it road. Of course, it points to the real need for seat belts!
Saturday she has a class reunion and our son works. My plan is to — if time allows — to remove the oil bath air cleaner and clean it up. I did some preliminary cleaning a couple of days ago, and it really has promise. Another under-hood project is to repaint the valve covers, which should be silver. I would like to paint the block, but there’s no way to properly paint the block without pulling the engine — which I would consider.
I have ordered a quart of Powder Blue paint; I want to use it to make the first rust repairs. There’s some rust bubbling on the dark blue portion on the passenger’s door, but that will come later.
But first, I need to get the car measured for a new driveshaft, have the brake lines and fuel line checked for safety. Lots of plans, not enough money, lol!
