I haven’t done much on the Plymouth, but I’ve been picking up some good parts on eBay for the car.
CIGARETTE LIGHTER. My NOS Mopar cigarette lighter arrived today, and its just a minty and unused as you would expect. I’m looking forward to getting it installed and then having a 12v accessory plug for my phone charger, etc.
VALVE COVER GASKETS. I also received my Fel-Pro cork valve cover gaskets this week. I’m going to take the valve covers off, clean and degrease them and repaint them the original silver color. I also plan to remove the original air cleaner, which I think will clean up really nicely.
CLEAN THE AIR CLEANER. The air cleaner clamps on the throat of the 2-barrel carb, and the clamp handle comes straight out the back facing the firewall. Its a bit of a stretch for me to reach, and I’ve had to remember to keep my belt buckle away from the finish when I’m reaching deep in the engine compartment. I added to my shopping list a couple of vinyl fender covers.
VENT WINDOW LATCH. I’ve been watching eBay closely for something I’ve needed for the Plymouth — the latch for the driver’s side vent window. The one in the car has had the handle broken, apparently where someone tried to unlatch the window latch without pushing in the button. The latch handle broke off, and was broken when I bought the car.
In the months since I bought the Plymouth last November, I’ve never seen a driver’s side replacement latch show up on eBay — until a few days ago. The seller had it listed with a Buy it Now of $49.95 — and it was well worth the price. I didn’t hesitate, I bought it immediately.
TUNE-UP TOOLS. I have recently acquired an inductive timing light and an inductive dwell meter for use with the Plymouth. I used to have both of these things, but i haven’t used them in ages and no longer know where they might be. Chances are I’ll probably find one or both of them in the future, but I wanted them now.
UNDERHOOD WORK. I plan to cut apart the new horn assembly (it has both horns mounted together). I want to mount them individual on the left and right side of the engine compartment like the original horns were located.
I would like to also get some black wire looms to cover some of the underhood wiring.
The original spark plug wires look old and skanky; I would like to replace them and make sure I have sufficient wire looms to organize them.
FUTURE SHOWS. I’ve been checking out the car cruise/show calendar for possible events to participate in. Right now it looks like the Whiskey City Cruisers on Oct. 23rd is probably the next show.
