Today was the last Whiskey City Cruisers cruise event at the Kentucky Home Square Shopping Center by Tractor Supply. The temperatures hit the low 60s, and the skies were mostly cloudy, making for a cool afternoon.
I spent the afternoon talking with a great group of guys that included Little Steve Campbell (former deputy), Kenny Downs, Kent Bischoff, Rudy Pinkston and others. I washed the Plymouth yesterday, drying it with my new chamois that worked exceptionally well. The Plymouth looked pretty good. I bought $50 worth of Halloween candy to give out, but there just weren’t any kids there today.
We DID have a pretty good turnout of cars, some of which I hadn’t seen at a cruisers’ event before. From what I heard, they had more than 70 cars. I looked at the photos they posted on the Facebook group and I saw a number that I had didn’t get to see.
As the afternoon progressed, the clouds got darker until just past 5-5:30 p.m. it began to sprinkle pretty good. Funny, but we all grabbed our chairs and scattered, getting packed quickly in our cars and hitting the road. It sprinkled on me pretty good until I got north of Delaney’s Grocery. It slacked off and the road was dry by the time I hit the city limits of Cox’s Creek.
MORE PLYMOUTH INFO. As often happens at the local cruises, I end up talking to people who knew Gary Brady or remember the car from the many years he woned it. Today I met a guy whose sister married Gary’s brother. He told me some new information about the Plymouth too — he told me that Harold Borders was the guy who painted the car back in 1982. That’s still the same paint on the car, which is pretty amazing for 39 years old. This makes me wonder if I really want to do a complete repaint on the car so quick now … I think I’m going to try to get through the 2022 cruise season with the car with minor repairs and touch-ups. Part of that figuring is because I want to get the garage set up better.
KYRAILWAY SHOW. Sounds like I missed a really nice car show last weekend at the Kentucky Railway Museum. I just didn’t feel like going alone, since Tammy was out of town and Elijah was working. Next year I’ll go, lol.
CENTRAL GARAGE SHOW. Next Saturday evening, 5-9 p.m., there’s the Central Garage car/bike show in Mount Washington. I would like to go, its not but about a dozen miles from home. The show is really getting big, they have food trucks, live music, etc. I would like to go, but we’ll see how the weather looks. It could be a cool, cool night. But at least I have the headlights adjusted well enough to light up the roadway so I can drive home.
