Due to the unseasonably warm and sunny temps today, the Whiskey City Cruisers had a rare Sunday cruise today. Actually, it wasn’t the first of the year, but it was the first that I took part in with the Plymouth.
Turnout was excellent … at least 80 cars were there, which included a variety of cars from outside the area. The cruise was set to begin at noon, but I slept in with my wife, and I didn’t get there until about 1:45 p.m. I stayed until 4:30 or so. Most people started leaving about 3-3:30 p.m.
Since the time change means more daylight, I’m going to try to take the Plymouth to the Monday Burger King meetings. I waxed the Plymouth Saturday, though in the sun today I found spots I had missed. I’ll have a chance to take care of those in good time.
The Plymouth still shows reasonably well despite the paint flaws. I’m not going to try to do any spot repairs this summer. As I’ve mentioned before my plan is to work on the old Dodge truck first to brush up on my bodywork skills.
PLYMOUTH UPDATES NEEDED. I have a lot of updates in the wings for the car, whicn include:
- Install seat belts
- replace hood bird
- replace truck emblem
- replace cigarette lighter
- replace the generator with my new alternator
- repair the fuel connection leak
- drop tank, replace sending unit
- replace valve cover gaskets to stop oil leak (hopefully)
- paint valve covers
- refinish air cleaner
- make new door panels
- replace dimmer switch
That’s enough to keep me busy with the Plymouth this summer. I also am working to get electricity in my new garage. I really need good lighting.
The first official Whiskey City Cruisers cruise in Saturday, April 23.
