No disrespect intended with my “manna from heaven” reference, but I was absolutely shocked to see the Tractor Supply Co. delivery folks showing up early this afternoon with my brand-spanking new DeWalt air compressor.
I was NOT expecting delivery today; however, I was expecting a phone call to arrange a day and time for delivery. My wife sent them around the barn, and the backed the trailer up to my barn, and unloaded it.
It was a little scarey too — the woman and her sons had never moved an upright air compressor before, and they were unfamiliar with how to “walk” an air compressor that was attached to a skid. Its not hard to do with just one person. No, she and her boys were trying to simply slide it off the trailer and on the ramp, which was pretty steep. I jumped in because the compressor was just about to tip over on top of Mom. But we got it down the ramp without damage or injury.
So tomorrow, I have some work to do. For starters, I need to move the Yerf Dog ATV out of the way. Then I need to walk the DeWalt over to the barn wall next to my 220 power. I’ll have to transfer the connector and wiring from the old one, and then connect the pipe and hardware to the outlet. I need to buy a quart of synthetic oil to replace the existing oil after a 30-minute break-in period.
I plan to add an oil and water seperator at the compressor output, as well as a regulator. I don’t want 175 pounds of pressure on all my lines all the time. Might need to make a trip to Harbor Freight, eh?
Well, I’ll have air soon enough, and I’m tickled to death with that fact.
